On the 31st October the Government announced a new set of restrictions (for a “lockdown”) starting on Thursday 5th November 2020. These restrictions are expected to last for 4 weeks.

A system of Tiers (Tiers 1, 2 and 3) was introduced in England on 14th October relating to the Covid-19 outbreak. Each area of England is assigned to a particular Tier depending on the extent of the coronavirus infection in that area (mainly based on cases per 100,000 of population).
Different rules and guidance apply in Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
Information on the rules that apply to each Tier can be found here. The document also shows which areas of England are within each Tier. At the time of writing (13th October), all of Devon is within the lowest Tier (Tier 1: medium risk).

The UK Government announced changes to Covid-19 regulations on 9th September 2020. The key change is reduce the number of people allowed to gather indoors and outdoors to 6 from Monday 14th September. There are exceptions to the restrictions.
These changes apply only to England. Different regulations are in place in Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales.

At the time of writing, Devon has been in the fortunate position that the number of confirmed cases and deaths have been very low, and not linked, for a number of weeks now. Even more reassuring is that the increase in visitors to Devon since the end of lock down is not showing any impact on the number of cases so far. You can view the live data on the Devon County Council website which shows that there are no areas of concern at present. We hope you find this information helpful in being able to assess local risks but please remember to continue to follow government guidelines to help you stay safe.

Wearing a face covering in shops and supermarkets in England will become compulsory from Friday 24 July.
It is hoped this will further reduce the spread of coronavirus and also encourage people to return to the shops safely.
You can either buy your mask or make your own face covering. Children under 11 and those with certain disabilities will not have to wear a covering
Please do your bit to help protect our West Devon shop workers and to reduce the spread of the virus.
The rules will be enforced by the police, with those who fail to follow the new rules facing a fine of up to £100.
Devon County Council has produced a plan to show how a local outbreak of Covid-19 would be managed. They state that this is a living document that will evolve as experience anywhere in the UK shows how the plan can be improved and refined.
