Volunteers Needed
For some time, the Parish Council has been pushing for a zebra crossing on the A386 near the Post Office & Store. This is already a busy crossing point for people using the Store, accessing the Coronation Hall, playing field & playpark and for those children and parents who walk to our school. The crossing point is likely to become busier still with the Store’s planned expansion in retail space and the (eventual) development of the Down’s Garage site.
Thus far, requests from the Parish Council for a proper crossing have met with a resounding “no” from DCC Highways Department.
In order to continue to press the case, the Parish Council has decided to collect data from 7am until 7pm on Wednesday 2nd September. This will take the form of one or two people counting the number of pedestrians who cross and, if possible, talking to them about their destination, how often they cross at this point, any experiences of accidents or near misses, etc. We will do a second day of data collection once the school term has started again.
To help Parish Councillors, we are asking for volunteers to do a 30 minute or 1 hour slot sometime between 7am and 7pm on the 2nd September. If you are interested and are able to give some time to help, please email Councillor Jane Dunn at ku.vog.licnuochsirapyvatyram@nnud.enaj.
